“Leaving You Alone” Single

Let’s be honest; some guys just have it. While some artists labor for days, weeks, and even months on a song to make it just right, others are fortunate enough to have times where it seems like lightning is striking all around them and the songs just keep coming. So it was when indie artist Ryland Foxx put the finishing touches on his home studio and set to writing, churning out fifty songs just after the studio was built. And, to kickstart the process, in ten minutes time his first single, “Leaving You Alone,” was written and three hours later was in the can, ready to be shared with the masses.
For the uninitiated, Foxx has spent the past several years honing his skills, playing all across the Midwest and western United States, focusing much of his time in the big cities of Chicago and Los Angeles. He’s shared the stage with the likes of artists from Guns ‘N’ Roses, Cinderella, and L.A. Guns and has slowly amassed a solid following for his brand of pop/rock/Americana fusion, allowing his musical maturity to lead the way.
“Leaving You Alone” builds on that experience, delivering a solidly produced single that succinctly toes the lines between rock and country. Aided by Jake Pallisard on lead guitar and Luke Pallisard on bass, Foxx handles the rest of the musical heavy lifting, playing acoustic and electric guitars as well as providing percussion. It’s a warm, inviting mix that the artist wraps his track in and it really helps things to shine.
Lyrically, the track deals with a tale of love, described by the artist as coming from the “point of view of the human process.” And while the jury is still out on whether or not the song truly captures that element, it’s still a solidly written track, with Foxx’s solid vocals delivering lovelorn lines like “I tried to do what was right/And I don't think I'm supposed to be missing you anymore/Now I know it was you all along/And everything I had is all I'm looking for.” It’s a painful tale but one that Foxx and company deliver with poise and precision.
On “Leaving You Alone,” Ryland Foxx showcases his ability as a musician and songwriter, ably delivering a rich, nuanced musical track that readily supports his tale of love and loss. And considering the rate of speed at which this track was written and recorded, one can only imagine what might happen were the artist allowed even more time to craft, create, and fine tune his work. Ryland Foxx is an artist to watch out for.
